Brushes in a variety of sizes and shapes allow for different effects depending on the needs of the painting.

When painting small on brown paper, the Rosemary Ivory Flats in small sizes (#2 and #3) are best (see AOP Oil Painting Study Set in the Supplies store).

With either oil or gouache, experiment with the different effects you can achieve with each brush size and shape. Try to make as many different marks as you can with each individual brush.
